This is a free Google Sheets template for tracking your spending. It has one table for every expense and earning, account balances, and a This Month summary by category that NotiTracker fills in. You can type rows by hand, or connect NotiTracker on Android and each expense you save from a bank notification becomes a new row.
What's inside
Everything is on one tab, Expenses, in three side-by-side panels:
- Transactions: Date, Expenses, Earnings, Description, Category and Account, one row per transaction.
- This Month: totals per category for the current calendar month. NotiTracker fills this in when it is connected.
- Accounts: Account, Balance (earnings minus expenses), Currency and each account's Share of the total.
How to use it
- Click Make a copy. The template opens in your own Google Drive.
- Delete the 8 example rows in the Transactions panel. The account balances update by themselves.
- Rename the accounts in the Accounts panel so they match the Account names you use.
- Check File > Settings so dates use day/month/year.
Stop typing the rows
Your bank already tells you what you spent. NotiTracker is a free Android app that reads the payment notifications from the apps you choose, fills in the amount and merchant, and you save it with one tap. Each saved expense is written as a new row in your sheet. No bank login.
How to connect it:
- Install NotiTracker and sign in with the Google account that owns your copy of the sheet.
- In NotiTracker's Google Sheets settings, pick the spreadsheet and the Expenses tab.
- Allow notification access and add your banking apps to Allowed apps.
Important: when NotiTracker initializes the tab you pick, it replaces that tab's data with its template layout. Connect the Expenses tab of a fresh copy, or an empty tab, never a tab with data you want to keep. NotiTracker only sees the one spreadsheet you give it access to and writes only to the tab you pick.
It has extra-tuned rules for MB WAY, Revolut, Trading 212, ActivoBank, Google Wallet, Caixadirecta (CGD) and Bankinter Portugal, and works with other banking apps through its general parser.
Template FAQ
Is the template really free?
Yes. Make a copy and it is yours. You do not need NotiTracker to use it.
Do I need the app to use the sheet?
No. The sheet works on its own if you type your expenses. NotiTracker only saves you the typing.
Does NotiTracker see the rest of my Google Drive?
No. NotiTracker can only access the single spreadsheet you give it access to, and it writes only to the tab you pick. It cannot see the rest of your Google Drive.
Can I change the categories?
Yes. The Category column is plain text, so use any categories you like.
Is there an Excel version?
The template is built for Google Sheets. You can download it as .xlsx from Google Sheets (File > Download), but NotiTracker only writes to Google Sheets.
